Obituary of Alba Iris Vega

Alba Iris Vega (née Ramos) age 79 of Cherry Hill, formerly of Camden, New Jersey and Lajas, Puerto Rico passed away at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia on July 14th, 2026.

Beloved wife of Wilfredo Vega, Sr. for 63 years. Devoted mother of Richard Vega, Ivette Rivera (the late Alberto), Wilfredo, Jr., the late Jacqueline Vega-Vilches (Mario), Walter Vega (Adam), and Norberto Vega (Sandra). Dear sister of the late Rosalea Pagan, Pablos Ramos, the late Eliza Ramos, the late Migdalia Vega, Esmeralda Gonzales, the late Mariano Ramos, Jr., and Eufemia Garcia. Proud grandmother of Eugene Giovanni, Angelica, Freddy, Albertito, Nathaniel, Kamari, Amanda, Natalie, Jose, Jeremy, Justin, Fredito, Brandon, Richard, Giancarlo, Christopher, Leilani, Uto and Jaidon. Great-grandmother of many. 

Alba is fondly remembered for her care-giving nature; She loved watching her grandkids and even operated a day care out of her home after not only caring for them but other children of the neighborhood as well. She also enjoyed science fiction and horror movies and television programs as well as had a talent for knitting. 

A dedicated and devoted catholic, Alba would say the rosary every single day; she also was involved with the choir at St. Joseph’s Pro Cathedral in Camden and was involved in the Crucillo as well.

She was born in Guanica, Puerto Rico, where she met the love of her life, Wilfredo. From Puerto Rico, they moved together to New York, then New Jersey, ultimately settling in Camden on 28th Street. Later in life, Alba and Wilfredo would split their time between Camden and Lajas back in their beloved Puerto Rico.

Family and friends are invited to the Visitation at Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home (6600 N. Browning Rd., Pennsauken NJ, 08109), on Monday evening, July 27th from 6pm - 8pm. Everyone is also invited to attend the Visitation at the funeral home the following morning, Tuesday July 28th from 9am-10am with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s Pro Cathedral (2907 Federal St., Camden, NJ 08105). Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery (1620 Cove Rd., Pennsauken NJ 08110).

 


 

Alba Iris Vega (de soltera Ramos), de 79 años y residente de Cherry Hill —anteriormente de Camden, Nueva Jersey, y Lajas, Puerto Rico, falleció en el Hospital de la Universidad Thomas Jefferson en Filadelfia el 14 de julio de 2026.

Fue la amada esposa de Wilfredo Vega, Sr. durante 63 años. Madre dedicada de Richard Vega, Ivette Rivera (esposa del difunto Alberto), Wilfredo Jr., la difunta Jacqueline Vega-Vilches (Mario), Walter Vega (Adam) y Norberto Vega (Sandra). Querida hermana de la difunta Rosalea Pagán, Pablos Ramos, la difunta Eliza Ramos, la difunta Migdalia Vega, Esmeralda Gonzales, el difunto Mariano Ramos Jr. y Eufemia García. Orgullosa abuela de Eugene Giovanni, Angelica, Freddy, Albertito, Nathaniel, Kamari, Amanda, Natalie, Jose, Jeremy, Justin, Fredito, Brandon, Richard, Giancarlo, Christopher, Leilani, Utoy Jaidon. Bisabuela de muchos nietos.

Alba es recordada con cariño por su naturaleza dedicada al cuidado de los demás; le encantaba cuidar a sus nietos e incluso llegó a administrar una guardería en su propia casa, atendiendo no solo a ellos sino también a otros niños del vecindario. También disfrutaba de las películas y programas de televisión de ciencia ficción y terror, y tenía talento para tejer.

Como católica devota y comprometida, Alba rezaba el rosario todos los días; además, participó en el coro de la Procatedral de San José en Camden y formó parte del movimiento de Cursillos de Cristiandad.

Nació en Guánica, Puerto Rico, donde conoció al amor de su vida, Wilfredo. Desde Puerto Rico se mudaron juntos a Nueva York y luego a Nueva Jersey, estableciéndose finalmente en Camden, en la calle 28. Más adelante, Alba y Wilfredo dividían su tiempo entre Camden y Lajas, en su amado Puerto Rico.

Se invita a familiares y amigos al velatorio que se llevará a cabo en la funeraria Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken (6600 N. Browning Rd., Pennsauken, NJ 08109) el lunes 27 de julio por la tarde, de 6:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. Asimismo, se invita a todos a asistir al velatorio en la funeraria a la mañana siguiente, el martes 28 de julio, de 9:00 a. m. a 10:00 a. m.; la misa de exequias se celebrará a las 10:30 a. m. en la Procatedral de San José (St. Joseph’s Pro Cathedral, 2907 Federal St., Camden, NJ 08105). El sepelio tendrá lugar a continuación en el cementerio Arlington (1620 Cove Rd., Pennsauken, NJ 08110).
