Obituary of Wilson A Baisden
Wilson A. "Tony" Baisden, age 80 of Pennsauken, passed away on April 10, 2021 at his home.
Wilson “Tony” Baisden was born in Lawnside NJ in 1940 to Arthur D and Delores Baisden. Beloved husband of Ana (nee Roman); Devoted father of John (Tanya) and Toni Baisden and Angel Davis; Loving grandfather of Siedra, Selena, Sioannis, Jade, Christopher, Antonio, Christian, Aiyanah and Johnathan and great grandfather of 5; Dear brother of Danny, Elliott, Kathleen, Michelene and the late Delores, Joseph and Thomas.
He served in the United States Army from 1963-1965. He worked as a general contractor for over 50 years and founded his own construction company, Busy “B” Enterprises, which he ran until his retirement in 2015.
Tony joined Lord Hayes #1 Masonic Temple in Camden NJ, in 1976. He served the Masonic family in various roles during his tenure which included serving as Worshipful Master and Deputy Grand Master. He was a member of The Federation of Men, a Christian organization of Southern New Jersey, for 20 years and served as President of the organization for five of those years.
Tony became licensed to preach in 1994 and was ordained in 2001. He was a dedicated member of Little Rock Baptist Church for over 30 years. He held many roles in the church, from Deacon to Sunday School Teacher to Assistant Pastor. He also dedicated much of his time and skills to helping build and remodel parts of the church building. He found great joy in serving his church and his community.
Tony was known for his quick wit and humor. He was always happy to entertain with a funny story, card trick or even a fun-natured practical joke. He loved to host gatherings of friends for good food and fellowship. He was also known for his giving nature and his unwavering faith in those he loved. He always offered his support, advice, an ear to listen or a shoulder to lean on to anyone who needed it. If you knew him, you loved him. He made everyone feel seen and valued.
He taught his children about love, strength, faith and forgiveness and modeled those traits for all who knew him. Tony was unique in the fact that he shared his flaws and wore his imperfections for all to see. He believed that no one was perfect, but that you had to accept your imperfections and do the best you could at any given moment. He didn’t believe in judgement but instead in radical love and support.
Tony Baisden was a great man. He was a man of faith, service and love and was an endless source of love and support to all around him. He was a man who truly believed that service to others was the greatest calling in life. He also chose to serve in silence. He did for others from a place of humility and love and never sought recognition. However, we choose to offer him recognition now. For a life well lived. For bringing a light into this world that will continue to shine in the lives of the countless people he touched. We will continue to tell his stories. We will seek to serve others as he did. We will carry on the legacy he created and hold that light up now that he cannot. We will pray for his peace and his well-deserved rest in eternity.
