Obituary of Rita M. Reilly
Rita M. Reilly (nee Moran), age 99 years, formerly of Rio Grande and South Amboy, NJ passed away peacefully at home in Pennsauken on April 18, 2021.
Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Devoted mother of Rita Lee Miller (Frank) of Pennsauken, NJ, Edward Reilly (Doris) of Rogers, AR and Kevin Reilly (Debra) of Collierville, TN. Loving grandmother of Sheila Lee Faulkner (Steven), Stacie Lee Garcia (Carlos), Jason W. Miller (Jessica), Linda Altenbaumer, Edward Reilly, Jr. (Jess), Sean Reilly and Patrick Reilly (Abby) and great grandmother of 12. Dear sister of the late William and Robert Moran.
Rita graduated from St. Mary’s RC High School in South Amboy, class of 1939. She worked at NJ Bell South in South Amboy, then Merchantville Bell Atlantic for 10 years. Rita retired from Camden County Courier Post in 1981 as a senior telephone operator and receptionist after 20 years of service.
Rita was a founding member of the Pennsauken First Aid Squad Woman’s Auxiliary in 1958. She was a former parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Merchantville, NJ and was a current parishioner of St. Stephen’s Church in Pennsauken, NJ. Rita enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.
She was a proud supporter of her husband’s activities and volunteered many hours with the First Aid Squad and community events. Her dedication to her husband in their 70 years of marriage and her support of her children defined her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held privately for both Rita and her late husband Edward, followed by interment at New St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bellmawr.
