Obituary of Daniel J. O'Brien

Daniel J. O’Brien, age 77 years of Sandgate, Vermont, formerly of Fairlawn and Gloucester City, New Jersey, passed away on September 7, 2022.  He was born on April 12, 1945 and raised in Audubon, New Jersey to the late Robert J. O’Brien and Margaret Mary Cooney O’Brien.

Dan is predeceased by his former wife, Elizabeth Batten, and is the devoted father of their children, Danny O’Brien, Jr., David (Diane) O’Brien, and Bernadette (Bill) Yingling. Loving grandfather of Kyle, Sonja, and Cecelia.

Dear brother of Robert J. (Cindy) O’Brien, Maureen O’Brien, Mary Ann (Gilbert) Guinoiseau, and the late Margaret O’Brien.

A loving partner to Holly Fertel.  Dan was also a caring friend and mentor to Lan Fertel, Sean (Tammy) Fertel, and their children Seth and Sophie.

He was a proud alumna of Gloucester Catholic High School and Glassboro State College.  In high school he was an exceptional athlete earning four varsity letters in one school year.  Dan returned to his alma mater to become an educator.  He taught, coached, and inspired generations of students.

Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 6-8 PM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 12:30 PM at the Church of Mary, Queen of All Saints, 4824 Camden Avenue in Pennsauken. Interment will take place privately.
