Obituary of Jose A. Santiago

Jose A. Santiago, age 71 of Camden, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024 at Barclay of Cherry Hill. 

Born April 12, 1952, in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico to the late Antonio Santiago and Ramona Ruiz he was one of twelve children.  As a young man, Jose left Puerto Rico and moved to New Jersey for work, sending money he earned back home to his mother to help provide for his younger siblings. To those siblings he was often more than an older brother; he was their provider and protector. A role he took pride in fulfilling. His work ethic and commitment to his family members were present throughout his life. 

Jose was a man of simple pleasures. In his downtime, he enjoyed listening to bachata music, especially songs by Zacaria Ferriera. On warmer days he enjoyed being outdoors under a tree with his friends joking around while enjoying a cold beer. Jose was big on respect, yet never took himself too seriously. He had a great sense of humor. While some may not have known his silly side, his children remember the random goofy faces he would make for no reason at all other than to make them laugh. 

Jose is survived by his children Jessica, Antonio, Sandy, Jose A. Jr. “Joseph”, Laura A. and Efrain A. “Edward” Santiago; grandchildren Zynasia and Kenai Simmons, Milan and Skyler Harold, Grey Santiago, Juels Dutch and Vinaya Driver; siblings Antonia, Haydee, Brunilda, Maria, Olga Iris, Alicia, Albert, Carmen and the late Evelyn and Anibal Santiago, as well as many other extended family members and friends.  He will be remembered for all the love he shared with his friends and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Monday, February 12 from 9 to 11 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Camden Funeral Home, 3425 River Avenue where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM.  Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery in Cinnaminson.
